There occurred an epidemic disease of bloat in the late 1950s to mid-1960s, because these magnificent beasts were never meant to eat the over-the-counter commercial dog foods, which were created after WW II German shepherd Now the dogs have reached a crisis with the banana-backs and exaggerated hocks. To save this breed, one must start from scratch by examining and duplicating the creator and founder of this breed before WW I. In other words, someone with similar scientific knowledge and experience with dog breeding must recreate this breed in order to restore this breed to its original qualities and innate characterisics. Today the shepherd is an undersized, deformed cripple with awful coloring, lacking the correct markings. The conformation dogs are all undersized and crippled without exception, lacking the true shepherd coat of yesteryear. For us fortunate enough to have been brought up in childhood with this magnificent beast original, it is truly a continuous period of morning, where we literally cringe at the sight of today’s disastrous consequence of greed and lack of knowledge and competence.
